Illinois Competition Highlights

  • 66 total participants
  • 24 high schools represented: Streator Township High School, Grundy Area Vocational Center, Capital Area Career Center, Gillespie High School, Limestone Community High School, Pawnee High School, Washington High School, East Peoria High School, Sherrard High School, Abingdon-Avon High School, Henry-Senachwine High School, Tremont High School, Ramsey High School, Peoria Heights High School, Geneseo High School, Midwest Central High School, Rushville-Industry High School, Moline High School, Livingston Area Career Center, Morton High School, Princeville High School, Dunlap High School, Metamora Township High School, Brimfield High School
  • $41,500 total awarded in MTI scholarships

Top 3

  1. First Place: Elliana Allen of Grundy Area Vocational Center; awarded a $5,000 scholarship. Grundy Area Vocational Center will also receive a $1,000 donation from MTI.
  2. Second Place: Liam Maupin of Dunlap High School; awarded a $2,500 scholarship.
  3. Third Place: Blake Hajny of Morton High School; awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

  • $16,500 total awarded in MTI scholarships

  1. First Place: Hunter Kelso of Nevada Regional Technical Center; awarded a $5,000 scholarship. Nevada Regional Technical Center will also receive a $1,000 donation from MTI.
  2. Second Place: Aric Plummer of Waynesville Career Center; awarded a $2,500 scholarship.
  3. Third Place: Samuel Zamiska of Waynesville Career Center; awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

Everyone who competes receives a $500 MTI scholarship.

Competition is open to all high school seniors across Illinois. All welding experience levels welcome.
