Caring for the Midwest Technical Institute & Delta Technical College Community During Coronavirus Outbreak

The Health & Safety of MTI and DTC’s Students, Faculty & Staff is Top Priority

MTI and DTC will continue to closely monitor and follow the guidelines offered by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services (MDHSS), the Mississippi Department of Health (MDH), our accrediting agency, the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), and the county health departments’ guidelines for each campus location. MTI and DTC take the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff very seriously, and are continually cleaning and sanitizing all campus locations, per guidelines from the CDC (see below.)

In order to minimize the potential risk, it is very important that all students, faculty and staff practice good hygiene practices, including washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds after using the restroom, before eating, or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing, per direction from the CDC. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol content.

Campus Presidents at each MTI and DTC campus location have ensured that there is ample hand sanitizer available for all. MTI and DTC are taking extra care in all cleaning procedures at campus locations, and while we hope none of our students, faculty, or staff is directly affected by COVID-19, MTI and DTC are prepared in the event they are.

To ensure the safety of MTI and DTC students, campus locations will close if necessary, per the guidance of local, state, and/or federal health organizations. If MTI and/or DTC close any or all campus locations, alternative methods of delivery for programs and courses would be implemented to continue students’ education without face-to-face instruction.

PLEASE NOTE THAT AS OF THIS COMMUNICATION, NONE OF THE MTI OR DTC LOCATIONS ARE CLOSED OR PLAN TO CLOSE.

MTI and DTC cares for the health and safety of our community, including students, faculty, staff and their loved ones. Any decisions to close campus locations will be made with the safety of our community as priority. In addition to the above hand washing guidelines, MTI and DTC encourage all members of campus communities to prevent the spread of disease by following these additional practices offered by the Center for Disease Control (CDC):

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then discarding the tissue in the trash. If you do not have a tissue, sneeze or cough into your elbow or shoulder rather than your hands.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using household cleaning sprays or wipes.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick to avoid spreading illness.

Any students, faculty, or staff who have additional questions and/or concerns should contact their Campus President.
