MTI Students, Staff & Local Businesses Donated Dresses & Dress Shoes for a Magical Experience

East Peoria, IL — Midwest Technical Institute (MTI) partnered with Dream Center Peoria last month to support the annual PROMise of Hope prom program. The initiative aims to give young women the prom night of their dreams with donated dresses, jewelry, shoes and beauty services.

Students and staff at all MTI locations, and sister school Delta Technical College, worked with local boutiques and students to collect donated prom essentials to high schoolers for prom.

The PROMise of Hope event, which took place at East Peoria Community High School, welcomed in young women from five high schools in the surrounding areas. These high schoolers, who wanted to attend prom but didn’t have the resources to do so, were able to select a gown from a rack of nearly 1,000 donated dresses. MTI coordinated a shoe drive to triple the number of heels and dress shoes the Dream Center had last year.

The event recruited 90 volunteers this year to give each high school student a tailored shopping experience.

MTI High School Representative Brittany Lawson shared more about the goal behind the event, saying,

Everyone deserves the chance to feel confident and beautiful, and through the PROMise of Hope program, we were able to help so many deserving teens to achieve that feeling.
